Spamming TAB sometimes crashes the game with a fatal error

Right after starting a new game (using the experiment-redux gamemode) I select a character and start spamming TAB to toggle the scoreboard/menu. After 4-5 times the game crashes with a fatal error, somewhere down in Lua.

The stack trace also contains a reference to the modelcache, although I'm not sure how it's related.

Walking away from the spawnpoint / waiting a bit and then spamming TAB sometimes doesn't have it happen.

Maybe this is a problem of a dangling pointer or something, causing an access violation? It might not be related to TAB or the scoreboard.
