Hello,
I tried to install FoxyTab from official Firefox addons website, but right after I confirmed the installation (Firefox asks for confirmation):

  • on Firefox version 128.0.2 nothing happens and the website continues to show the waiter widget as the installation process was still running. But also after 20 minutes, nothing happens
  • on previous Firefox version, I think it was 128.0.1, an error was shown in the webpage, like reported here.

Please note that I also issued same problem on Mozilla side without any response at all.
From this ticket you can see that

  • I installed/uninstalled/refreshed Firefox few times as I Firefox Sync was never-ending.
  • It was with previous Firefox version, where I could see the error on the webpage

Are the two related? I believe they are.
Any suggestion to overcome the issue and being finally able to install FoxyTab?

Thanks!

like reported here.

  • Are you on a company computer?
  • Is there a company policy in effect? (check about:policies)
  • What is the operating system?
  • How are you installing Firefox?
  • Is that standard Firefox (or Night, Dev edition, etc)?

  • Are you on a company computer?
    • Yes
  • Is there a company policy in effect? (check about:policies)
    • Yes, is called something like "Enterprise". Unfortunately I had to drop Firefox entirely as started crashing repeatedly, so I guess is something about company policies that is preventing me to use it as I do normally on my personal machine.
  • What is the operating system?
    • Windows 10
  • How are you installing Firefox?
    • Downloading the installer from getfirefox.com
  • Is that standard Firefox (or Night, Dev edition, etc)?
    • Yes, standard Firefox

It is possible that the Enterprise Policy is preventing the customisation of the browser. You would need to enquire from the company's tech support.

What does about:policies show?

I reinstalled Firefox and checked the policy. Nothing's there, I was wrong in the first answer I gave you. Apologize for this.

Nonetheless, the issue is still there. It's been installing for 10 minutes straight now.

I guess there is something corrupted on my PC? I tried also clearing Mozilla folders inside AppData/Local and AppData/Roaming, but no luck.

There might be an issue from the AMO side.

Try downloading the addon by right-clicking on "Add to Firefox" and then "Save Link As..."
Then open the saved file from Firefox (Ctrl+O)

I will give it a try and let you know. In the meanwhile I noticed that Firefox sync messed up some of my extensions also in my personal PC: some of those were removed, along why some cache stuff that logged me out from some web apps. So annoying... It must definitely be something corrupted on company's machine.

I just tried your suggestion without success, see screenshot. I don't know what to do to actually reinstall from scratch, as it was the first time Firefox sees this PC. :(

Can you install any other addon?

I cannot install some addons: FoxyTab is one of them. The issue is with extensions that I installed on first Firefox install on this machine. Such installation was done automatically by sync'ing with my Mozilla account.

I also tried signing out of Firefox and now I cannot install any extension at all. I think at this point my issue is not strictly related to specific extensions, but to the overall Firefox installation.

Therefore I think this issue can be closed.
