The builds on github are very frequent https://github.com/microsoft/sqltoolsservice/releases

The one this package installs one is super out dated and actually fails on newer ubuntu as it runs on old dotnet sdk which requires libssl 1.0 instead of the now current 3x versions. 1.0 is really bad version to use.

I installed the latest rhel build and it works fine on linux mint vanessa as well.

Agree. We can pin to the latest version.
