I don't have the silent hill 2 disc

the tutorial says "Insert Disc 1 of Silent Hill 2 (2001) PC into your Windows computer and run Setup.exe from the disc" but I don't have the 200-dollar disc copy of the original game, and I can't find in town for a better price, can I just not play this without spending several hundred dollars?
