Correct way to handle generate columns with sql?

I have been referencing the release on generated columns to automatically generate values in a handle column on some tables, however, I keep running into an error when doing exactly what is shown in the release notes.

The below example lowers the organiation.name to format it, which works correctly.

 handle: text().generatedAlwaysAs(
      (): SQL => sql`lower(replace(${organization.name}, ' ', '-'))`,
    ),

However, when trying to add another value or even just hardcoding a string with spaces, it keeps returning errors.
For example:

    handle: text().generatedAlwaysAs((): SQL => sql`hi, test!`),

Errors thrown:

error: syntax error at or near ","

I tried everything I could think to format text, but can't seem to get around it.

The docs show this exact example, but it doesn't work:

callback - if you need to reference columns from a table
