Re-Render Sheets Toolbar

Is there a way to re-render the toolbar on command? I have the use-case where the spreadsheet will be locked by default and the user must click the "edit" button in the toolbar to enable editing before modifying cell values in the spreadsheet. Once the spreadsheet is unlocked, a "save" button will appear while the "edit" button will become hidden. By default, I have the "edit" button displayed and the "save" button hidden.

Clicking the "edit" button modifies this configuration accordingly, however the toolbar does not re-render to display the changes. How can this be handled?
