Ioannis is setting up a project for 3rd year undergraduate students in collaboration with Cardiff University Computer Science on the topic ‘Generating Differentially Private Datasets Using Deep Learning’. From Cardiff University, Dr. George Theodorakopoulos, Senior Lecturer with expertise in Privacy/security (his work has received so far about 2500 citations) has agreed to collaborate. Potentially Dr Jianhua Shao, Senior Lecturer will also be involved. We are going for an undergrad project for now because MSc projects won’t start until next summer. Given that we will be formally supervising as ONS Data Science Campus we are hoping that we will get strong students. As our motto here is “data science for public good” we will request that the code from the project will be open and available from github.

Additionally, there will be more student projects coming next summer: MSc projects with Cardiff University and projects under the Cardiff Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (CUROP) scheme.
