macs fan control helper tool appears to be broken

the macs fan control helper tool "quits automatically every time i try to load up the app, then when i restart it it says it failed to connect.

i tried closing the app and reopening it, i tried ending the task, i even tried restarting the macbook. i also tried uninstalling the app using both the tool included in the app and also an external application. even tried installing a fresh copy of the software to no avail.
