Problem

The current HTML head section lacks a meta description tag, which could impact the search engine ranking negatively and make discovering the page difficult. A meta description provides search engines with a concise summary of the page's content, which is used in search result snippets. Adding this tag would improve the page's visibility and provide a better search experience.

Description

This feature involves adding a <meta name="description"> tag in the head section of the HTML document, providing a brief summary of the page content.

Implementation

  • would be interested in implementing this feature.

We'd need to decide on what this would say before this could move forward. Suggestion?

A suggestion,

Explore Creative Commons, a global community that supports the access, legal sharing and collaboration of creative works worldwide.

I'm not sure either of these is a description of what the site is, as much as it is a call to action for a larger more general thing.

I think the second is getting closer than the first suggestion, but a description would do well to capture what the site is, and what it does; and not just a tagline/slogan or call to action.

It also shouldn't be overly general either.

Let me look for another example

Discover the Creative Commons Search Portal, a platform for creators to find and use openly licensed images, music, and other media. Empowering legal sharing and innovation through Creative Commons licenses.
@possumbilities How about this?

The Creative Commons Search Portal helps creators find and use openly licensed images, music, and more. It aggregates content that can be legally shared and reused under Creative Commons licenses

@possumbilities Or this?

@Silvia-Wachira I think the second one sounds better than the first, but maybe include a little more information about the educational or teaching aspect of creative commons?
