Description

Very little information is available for subscriptions and the variations on payment forms that are required to make them work.

Example templates are a good resource, but don't actually explain what the requirements are. We're also operating on a lot of assumptions that are bound to the Stripe gateway—so the specifics aren't necessarily part of Commerce.
