Unable to set SVG hex color, despite svg property set to true #80

Using the following config the marker always shows up red, no matter which hex value I use for markerColor.

 let iconOptions = L.ExtraMarkers.icon({ 
        icon:  'fa-bus', 
        iconColor: 'white', 

        svg: true,
        markerColor:'#ffffff',

        shape: 'circle',
        prefix: 'fa' // Font Awesome prefix
      });
