The current flow is well suited for beginners who need explanations about every step of the configuration wizard.
Once they went through all the steps and learned about each step, it's no longer useful to force them to load 7 pages of content they already know. It would be better to let them access it only if they want to.
That's a quick win, but the best option IMO would be to offer either the wizard way or a single-page set up with all the simulation controls, instead of showing them only as a static recap. One would still need to be patient when the simulation runs, but it would massively speed up its configuration.

After running through the simulation a few times trying to understand the effect of changing a single variable, I very much agree with this need. I want to be able to adjust the parameters right on the output page and click rerun-sim to see the effects without needing to leave the page.
Also, it would be pretty cool to get to watch the simulator rerun results unfold across time as they are calculated, but that'd be more a UX bonus than a useful feature.
Edit: just found the ABC simulation [ https://commonsstack.org/abc#simulation ] and realized it has the UI we were describing as desirable here. I guess you just need a way to toggle into that mode after the initial use of the wizard then?
