SDL 2.0.4 won't build in this cygwin64 environment I just installed,lots of syntax errors that suggest some macro expansion didn't finish.

Note that you need to set BUILD_HOST=i686-w64-mingw32 for Windows builds. Essentially you're doing a crosscompile from Cygwin->MingW. Maybe this helps?
