Update AC First Timeslot

I think that it would be useful to include the ability to update the AC First start time and end times similarly to how the AC Charge timeslot can be adjusted in Home Assistant.

This would give one the ability to automate the switching between battery and grid.

I thought this was already done in #143 - this lets you change the AC Charge / Charge Priority / Forced Discharge timeslots. These are the only three that I can see on Luxpowers portal.

Is one of those the one you mean by AC First, or is there another one we missed?

I made use of the dev Docker images.

Initially, when viewing the controls in Home Assistant I saw:

not sure if Unknown is an issue but I did have values on the inverter set.

I set the first timeslot

In the log I saw

I can then confirm that the value was set currectly

I then reset the value

in the logs I saw

and then the value was set in the inverter stettings

So I can confirm that one is able to set the values.

Brilliant, thanks for testing. That all looks expected. The "unknown" values are because we don't currently broadcast the initial values to MQTT, so HA doesn't know what they are until we change them. There's an initiative by @lupine to improve this, but not sure on the timescale. It's a pretty minor issue though, mostly just cosmetic, doesn't affect functionality.

I'll get some docs added to the wiki and this will be in next release.

We already publish all the individual registers at lxp-bridge startup; however, time registers are spread across several and home assistant doesn't know how to stitch them together. All we need to fix the behaviour here is another entry in this function: https://github.com/celsworth/lxp-bridge/blob/master/src/coordinator/mod.rs#L454

https://github.com/celsworth/lxp-bridge/issues/151 is the improved approach @celsworth is talking about, I think, but it's not really on my radar at the moment if I'm honest.

You’re certainly not the only one! I would welcome somewhere where we can discuss getting the best out of our systems. The HA community is a bit too generic.
