I think we could add a top-level _quarto.yml file to define slide theme, logo, etc. as defaults for slides (which could be overridden by YAML headers). I'm not sure what other pros/cons there might be, but it could make it easier to have a consistent style for slides and notes?

Default settings that would be nice:

  • our logo
  • open external links in new tab

So there'd basically be like a template for all the slide decks?

Maybe. I'll try it out sometime on a branch and see how it goes.

I think that seems like a great idea! And it will help me switch over to using Quarto for slides for the next workshop I teach 😆

I've played around with this a little bit and it seems like it might be difficult to implement for all the workshops in this repo, but might be useful to archive this, and start a new one starting in 2024 that's a Quarto project. I'll test things out a bit and see what the pros and cons might be
