Send calendar invitation via IM to clients using various devices?

I’m looking for an application that allows me to schedule appointments with clients by sending event invitations .ics via IM or SMS, so their calendar would have this event added and reminder to be activated.

Can Cal do this?

However, there is no direct support for sending .ics files via Instant Messaging (IM) platforms.
