Refinement of grouping by date

When grouping by date, photos are currently grouped per day. Sometimes, especially when filtering photos, this leads to a very long list (lots of scrolling, not much visible content on screen).

I think it would be great to have an option that allows to refine the grouping by date. E.g. there could be an option to group by day (the current default), week, month, or year to create collection of best photos, or something like memories (photos from the same week of the past years).

The key part of this feature to make it super easy and straight forward to use. I would like to keep the UI simple.

What I can image is to add a small drop down to the date group by to change the defaoult behaviour:
