Does eqMac use its own EQ or Audio Units (AU) from macOS?

What interests me now is whether eqMac uses its own EQ or Audio Units (AU) from macOS?
I use a number of audio players, most of which allow you to display the Macs AUs, but handling them is very tedious.
I want to be able to switch quickly between different headphone settings, similar to EQ-APO and Peace on Windows or Sonarworks SoundID, but with freely available EQ settings for different headphones.
