Duplicate calendar events

I have a preexisting Nextcloud calendar that is being synced to Graphene OS with DAVx5 and one of these calendars adds a new event to Simple Calendar each time there is a sync making a new event, but it only pulls from the server but never writes to it. Removing the calendar from being synced and re-adding it eliminates the duplicates. I am it is possible that this is actually a calendar problem but I am looking for guidance diagnosing the problem as it is making the calendar unusable. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am installing a second calendar app now as a test and will be monitoring to see if it too receives duplicates and if not it is probably an app problem and not a davx5 problem.

So far there have been no syncing issues. I am now inclined to believe this is not a flaw in DAVx5
