Binaris CLI should be backwards compatible

So far we have made little to no effort ensuring that the CLI remains backwards compatible. Now that users are being on-boarded the importance of backwards compatibility is paramount. We should create/define a process which will allow us to consistently provide backwards compatibility (outside of extenuating circumstances).
