Extra/Scavenger unit keep rescale or remove #4027
Comments
There will be riots, it's probably the most popular epic unit of them all |
all ba forks that aren't explicitly zk will slowly drift towards being techa |
That is not the concern of this ticket the point of this ticket is to bring all extra units into compliance with GDT decisions. |
Epic Dragon might get a rework. If not then i will at least try to play around it's weapons at some point. The current issue i have with it is how similar it is to the regular Dragon, making the Epic unit boring, and that defeats the purpose of it existing. Epics are meant to be wild mutations of regular units that Scavs have created, and Scavs is primary target for them. It just happens that we allow players to use them in regular games as well via that option. |
Here is a list of every unit that does not comply with movedef spacing that i have gone through
there is a chance i may have missed some units |
Currently there are a lot of epic units in bar that do not fit well with current vanilla game play.
Epic units tend to have issues with their spacing/collision box
this is 20
corthermite
in a blobhere is deadeye with a floating hitbox.
Damgam has given approval for units being rescaled or removed if need be.
units currently approved for removal
looks bad
needs rescaling and isn't unique enough for an extra unit
not unique enough and hard to tell if you have epic or regular dragon
@Damgam for tracking purposes
Rescaling models.
We have ~42 movedefs in bar that fit our current vanilla units.
I do not see a need to increase that number anymore for Extra or Epic units exclusively.
Therefore all additional units that are distributed by the main game itself must fit within the provided movedefs.
Exceptions can be made if there are current Armada or Cortex units that would also benifit from having a movedef added to the game.
Each moved has its own CPU and memory cost, the less we have the better Bar performs.
Also note that if Vanilla units do not fit within their current assigned movedef, that movedef may be changed in sizing or those units will be assigned to a different movedef.
see #4025 which changed the whole movedef as an example.
removal of units
Damgam will control this for now.
I'll let him make a post on the matter to better decide which units will stay or be removed from bar.
after that I'll update this post so that we have clear guidelines on what stays or gets removed.
