This example is explained as a "validate model" scenario but the general concept applies in other use cases as well. When I periodically "validate model" and try to resolve any errors, unused elements, etc. I run the validate model report, right click and "reveal object" to find it in model tree, then take actions. This is easy because the "reveal object" will highlight the element in the model tree. If that element is pages down in the scroll, it will bring it into the current scroll area and highlight Super helpful. But if a model tree search string is in place (and I assume this would also apply to model tree filter), the reveal likely is working but is effectively filtered from view. I wonder if the filter/search can be removed in this scenario to have a good result? Perhaps a warning message could be introduced in this case to alert use that this is happening. Thanks for considering this usability concern. This scenario also applies when a view is filtered out due to search and you right click "Select in Model tree" is chosen.
