How can I update this package without brew installed?

Do I need to download the package from the GitHub releases and install it manually every time there’s an update? Which is too annoying.

You could fork/clone the repo, follow the steps on building locally, and use the local version.

At least this way, you don't have to download the package every-time a new version is released. However, you would have to keep manually pulling the latest changes from main, in order to stay up to date.

You say it's annoying to download an installer package and install it. Could you provide specifics on why it's annoying?

I want it to notify me when an update is available, and allow me to type something like “container upgrade” to download and install the update automatically. It would be better to support automatic background updates, similar to how apps update through the App Store.
