Is this behavior implemented by wayvnc? Can it be changed to send the text to the client only when the user explicitly copies (when the server clipboard changes)?

We do listen for changes to the primary selection and send them to the client. Is this what you're referring to? It would probably be ok to add an option to disable usage of primary selection. You could also disable primary selection support on the remote compositor if you don't use it.

I may need the primary selection function within the server, but indeed I only need to transfer the content that I explicitly copy between the server and the client.
