Can't connect with RealVNC 4.9.3

I'm using wayvnc 0.9.1 and RealVNC 4.9.3 which are both the latest versions respectively (to my knowledge) on my Ipad with IOS 15.8.3 with is also the latest version I can install.

When trying to connect to wayvnc with RealVNC I get:

Either VNC Server is not running, or it is using an incompatible protocol version.

I tried using setting enable_auth=false or using RSA-AES as explained in the README, both result in the same error.

Interestingly I get the auth window when using RSA-AES, prompting me to log in. When doing so it displays the error.

Is this an issue on RealVNCs side? I haven't tried any other VNC Viewers yet, as the other free ones seemed a bit sketchy.

Also wayvnc gives no output, even when running with -v, is this expected?
I'm not tunneling through ssh, so using my local ip address. I also opened TCP port 5900 in my firewall, do I need another port?

I don't know why it behaves like that. I recommend taking a look at the network traffic on 5900 with wireshark.

It's not expected to be particularly verbose. Try -Linfo or any of the other log levels in the man page or wayvnc --help.

Looks like a wayland protocol error. Maybe it would be good to try with another wayland compositor and see what happens.

Will try, I'm currently on unstable Hyprland (078e13f463d56a4e773aa104bca5567b9e9c8658), so that might have something to do with it
