We should be able to specify mailing list generation configuration per domain.

This would allow us to use different domains for our mailing lists (e.g. amiv.ethz.ch, blitz.ethz.ch, bastli.ethz.ch, etc.)

I do not understand this issue.

Could you please provide additional detail?

In particular:

  • What are the exact usecases and requirements?

  • Which exact feature of the API are you referring to, and how does it differ from what is needed, i.e. which changes are necessary?

As of now, the description is to general and I do not know how to address it.

We have some @amiv.ethz.ch addresses in use. So do our commissions with @bastli.ethz.ch, @blitz.ethz.ch.

The commissions manage their groups also with the API to use the automatic group shares on the AMIV Cloud for example.

Currently, all Email addresses configured for the groups are generating forward files stored directly on the mailserver. This allows us only to handle email addresses for one single domain.

If we also want to manage @blitz.ethz.ch or @bastli.ethz.ch Addresses with the group management of the API, we need a more general solution, because for those different domains, the forward files have to be stored under different users on the mailserver.

Thank you, this is starting to make sense to me now.

Do those other mail domains use the same mail server and mail file layout?

They use the same mail server and the same forward file layout. The only difference is that it has to be stored under another user.

Okay, that simplifies things! I think this is reasonable to implement.
