Allow the logs to be collected in different formats like txt or log format instead of xls

the log is collected in xls format, hence I need to copy it to a machine which has some office suite like libreoffice, however if i want to see the log then and there, I cannot open it using vi or cat,
hence request you to log information based on user wish say I want it like logging in txt format

Also, if you are implementing this fix, give the user an option to collect in different formats and not just one type. Like give me an option to dump in .txt and .xls format (you can use two files), hence i can view it then and there in .txt and copy the .xls to my machine and view it for geenerating graphss
