darkmode support

It would be great if the project could support darkmode.

Dark mode support is planned, but it's going to be awhile before it's added since it's a fair amount of work to redo the styles. Closing as a duplicate of issue #911.

@big-ccbtw I might be able to get to it this summer, currently I'm trying to make sure the code base is stable and dependencies up to date. Issues #1031 and #911 are the tracking issues for dark mode.
