Sometimes, strumming a HOPO on guitar leads to losing your streak. I suspect it has to do with strumming too early or too soon in relation to fretting the note. The most common time where this is applicable is in a scenario like this (lowercase letters are hammer-ons):

In the original Rock Band games there was a forgiveness window in which your strum would not count against you in this instance. Without this forgiveness window, these passages are significantly tougher because you cannot consistently alt strum. I have extensively adjusted all of the Engine settings, but they don't seem to make a difference, so I am assuming this is a bug. This happens in both the stable and nightly builds.
