Best Raspberry Pi Model to run SolisManager?

What is the minimum spec RPi that could be used to host SolisAgileManager?

And the best OS to use?

The minimum (and quite adequate) would be a Pi 3 with 64 bit OS and 8Gb Sd card. That’s what I started with. I got a 3B to allow me to use a wired connection. You can run it in headless mode and connect to it from a PC on the same network. Older SD cards make the software run a bit slower and are slower at updating.

Strong recommendation for a pi5, similar price as a 3 and much more grunt in the CPU and more ram options. I'm using mine with libreelec as a media player OS and using docker to run additional apps. 👍

Would you care to give an idiots guide on how to do this please? I have an old Pi 2 which it wouldn't run on, but also have a Pi 4 running Libreelec. If I could get it working on this then it would be ideal.

A "starter for 10" is to install docker into libreelec via the libreelec add on repository within kodi.You'll need to also enable SSH access via the Kodi interface to manage your docker install.

You'll need to manage your containers, I use docker compose and portainer. I found some of this guide (and companion video)useful...

... starting with the section on "Installing Docker Compose" and moving onto "Installing Portainer". (That guide goes on to explain how to install Home Assistant, it's also awesome but not necessary to run Solis Manager)

Once you've got this far you've basically learned how to install applications into docker containers and manage them so you can adapt your knowledge to install Solis Manager the same way.

Just bear in mind that libreelec is "just enough OS" to run Kodi so it's missing some regular Linux stuff and handles persistent storage differently (hint /storage/ is your pi SD card).

If none of the above makes sense or you hit trouble, then I suggest learning some Linux basics, watching some tutorials on YouTube or chatting with an AI (yes really!) to learn more.

Many thanks for your reply. I did manage to get so far with it but unfortunately Docker is beyond my comprehension and I have given up.

Ive instead upgraded my old Pi 2 to a newer machine and it’s running perfectly on this without Docker.

I’ve never managed to get Docker working on my 3B but I use a bash script that will install/update to the latest production Version.
