I created an EasyFLash Cartridge image of GUI64

Hello,

I was able to use this program to convert GUI64.PRG to a cartridge image called GUI64.crt. I then inserted that new cartridge image into the VICE emulator and GUI64 loaded right up.

I tried to use the cartconv program that comes with VICE, but it always complained that the PRG file was too big. NDEFPACK worked.

Hi, thank you. That is really useful. Right now, I have this functionality only with the d64 on my Kung Fu Flash.
Would you be available to create such an image again when GUI64 version 2.0 is released? This will take a few months, though.

I would be happy to. NDEFPACK is quite easy. I just ran it, drag and dropped the PRG into the window and then saved the CRT file. NDEFPACK is a windows only program, but I ran it on my Mac using WINE.

I just tested it. Great! Do you know how to let GUI64 start from the cartridge without the Easyflash screen?

I am not sure about that. If the PRG file were small enough, you could make a standard cartridge image for it. But since it is bigger than 16KB, then you have to use the Easy Flash method, which allows larger images. The Easy Flash also allows multiple images, which is why you are presented with that selection list. I will do some googling and see if there is a way.

Yes, I did use the MacOS version. I was thinking of something else I was working on. I have found another program that will make an EasyFlash CRT image without a menu.

It is a Java program, so it should run on everything. It ran on my MacOS, once I click the security warnings to allow it. Just add the PRG, uncheck the EasyFLash boot screen and Easyflash screen saver check boxes, then save the CRT.

Thx. The DCM tool works on my system (Windows 11) with Java. I unchecked "boot" and "screen", but when I drag the crt into VICE, it still shows the EasyFlash screen. :(

This is a special version of DCM that is modified to work with a single PRG file. Did you see the GUI64rev3.crt.zip file I posted here? It loads GUI64 without the EasyFlash screen or a menu.

Have you heard of C64OS? GUI64 is not a competitor, but like a cousin of C64OS. You might get some ideas if you check it out. www.c64os.com

Ofc I have. It's a whole OS and it's just great. I have already "stolen" some of the ideas. For example, the folder icons of GUI64 and C64OS are very similar... ;-)

Documentation looks good. I just did some testing with GUI64 and VICE. GUI64 works fine with a CMD HD and also the VICE virtual IEC device. The right-click function does not seem to work. I cannot right-click on a drive icon to change its number.

That's interesting. It works in my version of VICE v3.8 (and on my Ultimate64). In my VICE settings, I have set
Input Devices --> Joystick --> "None" in Joystick #1
Input Devices --> Control Port: "Mouse (Micromys)" in Control Port #1

Yeah my VICE settings are the same. I tried on my Mac at work earlier today and just now on my home MacBook Pro. The right click won't work. I also just tried it on my real C64c with a Kung Fu Flash 2, and also on my C128 flat with an Ultimate II+L. The C64 would boot the CRT file and then a black screen. The C128 would boot the CRT and then show a garbled screen like the character set was changed or something. I have a USB mouse with the mouSTer on port 1. I used the CRT rev3 i created today in all cases so maybe it is the issue?
