FFmpeg installation

What is the procedure for getting ffmpeg to work? I have codec tinker set to convert to mp3, with it pointing to a local install of ffmpeg. But it continually fails, saying "An error occurred trying to start process '/app/bin/ffmpeg/bin/ffprobe' with working directory '/app/bin'."

Simply pointing the settings to a read-write-execute path should be all you need to do. If FFmpeg is already installed in that location, you’ll just need to ensure that FFmpeg, FFprobe, and other dependencies are correctly installed.

To make it easier, just setting it to /config/plugins/TypNull/Tubifarry/ should work fine on docker.

🙄 As I said, if you install it manually, you have to get everything right. 😅
Otherwise, Tubifarry takes care of it for you.

So, here’s what not to do:

Downloaded ffmpeg manually, placed in config directory and pointed to that and no go.

Please remove what you installed and simply point to /config/plugins/TypNull/Tubifarry/.

Yes as I said, I tried that, and it didnt work...

OK, Tried that, got a similar error - "Cannot find FFmpeg in /config/plugins/TypNull/Tubifarry/ or PATH. This package needs installed FFmpeg"

Its there, I can see it when I browse to the folder. Even if i try to run it from console within the container, as user or root, I get command not found error.

Starting to think its some type of permission error on my side, just tried to run a different script and it gives me a similar error, about permission denied to /app/bin. Ill see what i can do to figure it out.

Did you point it to an empty directory, or did you place FFmpeg in there? If you put Ffmpeg into it, don’t do that and delete what you downloaded.

OK, let me say it again to make sure it's clear: Tubifarry can install FFmpeg for you!
You don’t need to do anything except point to a working directory.

The path /config/plugins/TypNull/Tubifarry/ cannot have permission issues in Docker—it’s always accessible, as it contains the plugin itself.

It looks like you downloaded something but missed some steps.
So, once again: do not download anything, and remove whatever you’ve already downloaded.

Just let Tubifarry do the job of installing FFmpeg
