How does webcord compare to vencord in terms of privacy? #448

I've never used Vencord, but I'll try to answer this in some way regardless:
I'm pretty sure Vencord isn't the mod focused on the privacy. It probably blocks stuff that won't cause any breakages (science, fingerprinting), but I highly doubt it has something like WebCord when it comes to the third-parties. As an extension, it might also be limited at blocking, especially when it comes to Chrome extensions. WebCord has greater access over the engine so it can do more about it in some cases (it all depends on the API). Possibly the Discord (as an application) mod however messes up with the Electron, so then blocking capabilities are similar. But I also doubt there's permission management built into Discord with this mod, at least I haven't seen any Discord mod like that as well… And given Discord compiles Electron on their own and requires the use of their proprietary modules, it doesn't eliminate the risk they couldn't bundle something into the client that cannot be quite removed but affects the privacy, however that's very unlikely to happen. But if you're paranoid, you can always replace Discord's Electron with the upstream version that WebCord or many other Electron applications uses. Of course, these are more of the predictions, I guess someone using or developing Vencord might tell a bit more what they're doing or you could give it a try on your own.
WebCord just doesn't implement it (both as RPC and process scanning), which can be seen as a good thing for some and a bad for the others. I'll probably consider adding IPC support to Disconnection and add API necessary to support RPC, but in case of WebCord RPC is definitely going to be disabled by default. |

How does webcord compare to vencord in terms of privacy?
This one, https://github.com/Vencord/Vesktop
How does WEBCORD compare to VENCORD/VESKTOP in terms of privacy?
In webcord there are several privacy focused settings.
Microphone, camera, desktop capture, background synchronisation, typing indicator, telemetry and fingerprinting can all be BLOCKED.
There are advanced options to disable the built-in content security policy and third party websites.
Does vencord have the same privacy capabilities as webcord does?
Is vencord capable of blocking discord's spying on the memory/ram?
Disabling the game activity status DOES NOT STOP discord from spying on
what programs/applications you are using on your computer, however webcord does block this!
