There might be podcasts which are not listed in a directory or payment is required. So it shall be possible to enter a RSS feed manually. It could also be necessary to enter a RSS feed with username and password (e.g. https://:@url.rss.feed)

Add podcast via RSS button where a line of text can be entered, i.e. the url of the RSS feed. A test button which checks the connection & show the RSS feed content and an add button which puts that Podcast into the favourites. Maybe two additional fields for username and password which gets combined with the URL for access.

Especially for testing RSS feeds there is no real alternative in this podcatcher (or did I overlook something)

A right mouse button context menu to click on a RSS feed link in the browser (add to poddr) would be cool.

Seconded here the iTunes db might be the largest, but as it is the app locks you in.

I cannot believe this isn't already there. It's the most basic function of a podcast app - much more basic than searching for podcasts. I mean, it's easier to implement. I have podcasts that I pay for (twit.tv) that have ad free versions which will not be found in the database - I have to add them by entering the RSS feed, and you're telling me I can't do such a basic thing in this advanced podcast player?

Well, this is free software, so I shouldn't complain - I'm just very surprised. It's great to have advanced features such as searching for podcasts in a database, but I don't think you should forego the basic functionality of simply adding an RSS feed.

Shouldn't this feature request be closed ? On Ubuntu 22.04 snap, in Favourites , there is a add RSS feed ( "+" ) button.
