This program is designed to extract and process entries from the CC-CEDICT Chinese/English Dictionary and output structured data (i.e. JSON, XML, CSV) for further usage.
The files in this repository provide the following structured information for each word from the dictionary:
- Chinese words using traditional characters
- Chinese words using simplified characters
- Referenced traditional Chinese characters (including code points)
- Referenced simplified Chinese characters (including code points)
- Numeric Pinyin (e.g. Zhong1guo2)
- Diacritic Pinyin (e.g. Zhōngguó)
- English definitions
The relevant data can be found here: https://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=cedict
All output files (JSON, XML, and CSV) are directly provided with this repository and made available for use. A manual update can be triggered using the provided makefile. Ruby 2.3.0 and the Nokogiri gem (XML) are required.
