Please watch the 7z rabbit hole is extremely deep. (1000's of crashes) for context. In that YT video, we learn of multiple issues with 7zip. Given that a decompression program is a critical piece of scoop's distribution an installation scripts, would it be reasonable to have a configuration option to select your unarchiver of choice, like winrar, winzip, even tar...

Given my intro above, I think it would be wise to have alternatives to 7zip as the "middleman" program used for decompression of programs.

Given the above, an option in scoop's config file defining path to the decompression program and main decompression switches required

Describe alternatives you've considered

Seeking scripts that only use .exe or .msi files.
