Beds turn invisible or disappear when copied and pasted

Current behaviour

when pasting beds in a building, the back of the bed turns invisible only if it is facing a certain direction. if not then it gets deleted, entirely, also when the back of the bed is invisible the front is gone.
to compound on the issue, the few times that the bed doesn't disappear, it is always red, even when it is supposed to be another color.

Expected behaviour

the bed should stay the copied color, and shouldn't disappear or turn invisible

Steps to reproduce

1. Create a build with a bed.
2. copy the build
3. paste the build
4. to be safe, rotate the build and paste it again
5. do this for every cardinal direction to see how the bed "holds up".

it has been hapening for a while, since at least 0.8.3(says MC 1.20), which is when I think I started using it
