How to get the fix/improvements available in the main branch into the next release?

Hi Team,

The new feature to include the status column for the content picker field was merged into main via PR 17899. However, I noticed that the recent 2.2.0 release does not include this change.

Could you please confirm the process to have this feature included in the forthcoming release?

Was the release/2.2.0 branch cut before the PR merge?
Should I raise a cherry-pick PR against the release branch, or will it be part of the next scheduled release (e.g., 2.21)?
