Pixelorama version:

v.1.0-stable (Flatpak)

OS/device including version:

Fedora Linux 40 (Workstation Edition)
GNOME 46.3.1

Issue description:

Pixelorama doesn't show up in the "Open With..." list unless it's the default app for opening images. Even if it's not the default app, I expected that it would show up somewhere on the list, but it doesn't show up anywhere at all.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have Pixelorama not be the default app for opening images
  2. Right click an image file
  3. Choose "Open With..."
  4. Fail to find Pixelorama :(

Hello!
I also use Fedora 40 (however, KDE desktop environment) and installed Pixelorama through flatpack. I can open image files using pixelorama just fine with "Open With..."
Some potentially useful information when diagnosing the issue (It's very unlikely to be a Pixelorama issue):

  • Does Pixelorama appear in the application launcher? - If no, then flatpack did not create a .desktop file (or did not put it in a findable place, which should be /var/lib/flatpack/exports/share/applications ). A reinstall should generate the .desktop file in the right location, presumably.

  • What image types are you trying to open? Pixelorama's Mime types (aka, what things you can use it to open) are TGA, WebP, SVG, PNG, JPEG, and BMP. If the image is none of those, then it can't be opened with Pixelorama via "Open with...".

  • If none of the above work, you can create a .desktop file. Set its program to your Pixelorama install, fill out name, icon, etc. and set it's mime types to the ones mentioned above. Then, place the pixelorama .desktop file you made into ~/.local/share/applications Now you should be able to use "Open With..."
( For mime types, when adding them, you should find them all underneath image/ if selecting from a list)

If you installed from flatpack, then, theoretically, my .desktop file, placed in "~/.local/share/applications" should work for you. (The attached .txt is my .desktop file. Just rename the extension to .desktop)

Thanks for your help!

Yes, Pixelorama does indeed show up in the application launcher and I am only trying to open normal images.

I tried your .desktop file but that only made Pixelorama disappear from GNOME Setting's default app list altogether. :/
