Which way do you prefer to update an user profile?

Currently there are two ways to update a user profile. One is to use the user page and the other is to use the test-2/user-update page.

How to update an user profile by the user page

Take WAT SANTIWONGSARAM | Open Sangha Foundation as an example, you can simply append "?um_action=edit" to this profile url and visit the new url. Or you can click the Setting icon and click "Edit Profile",

How to update an user profile by the test-2/user-update page

You need to know the user ID before. Then visit https://opensanghafoundation.org/newsite/test-2/user-update/?r=USER_ID

I prefer using the user page to update a user profile for the following reasons,

1. The user page is provided by a off-shell product i.e. the Ultimate Member WordPress plugin. I've had an evaluation of UM and I think it's a mature and good project based the following observations,

   1. It has a large user base which mean it has been well-tested and we can assume it's mostly bug-free
   2. UM is open source (we can freely change its code if really there is a
      bug)
   3. It has an active development team and community (we can report the bugs to them
      or request them to implement missing features)
   4. It has good documentation
   5. It has paid support

2. We have already used UM for user registation and profile displaying. If we bypass or ignore UM's design, there will many conflicts for us to resolve if we write our code by manipulating the UM's database table directly. For example test-2/user-update has the bug of not taking the latest website field. Another example is Dhammarato previously got stuck in the issue of trying to make avatar work for months before I stepped in.

3. I think UM already provides what we need in most of cases. It's a waste of efforts to reinvent the wheel.
