Changes affecting the formatting of multiple lines does not refresh properly

If the user adds or removes a character in the input, only the current line's syntax highlighting is updated. If the change affected multiple lines, the highlighting for those lines will be out-of-date until changes are made to those lines or the file is closed and reopened.
