How to exclude particular dependency (@types/node)

I want to avoid merging automatically for a particular dependency: @types/node.

The reason is being that package should match the minimum version of NodeJS the project supports, instead of always getting the latest.

I tried something like this but it doesn't work:

  - name: automatic merge for Renovate pull requests (except major)
    conditions:
      - author=renovate[bot]
      - head~=^(?!(major-))
      - title~=(?!(@types\/node))

Am I missing something?

Would you have an example PR that you would like to exclude to show? that'd help.
I'm not really knowledgeable on renovate PR format.

I don't think so. head is the name of the head branch but from what I saw in your example PR the head branch name is renovate/node-18.x so that does not contain any "major" keyword.

The conditions are:

• if the PR is about @types/node, ignore
• if the PR is anything about major, ignore (all packages, not just @types.node)

So I think it translate to: no @types/node in title & no major in branch name.
Am I missing something?

Right, but how do you write "no major in branch name"? I don't see any way to do that considering the naming pattern of Renovate branches.

That's the - head~=^(?!major-) is for.

For example:

I think this should work. Will monitor and wait until there is a major dep update to see. :)
