Self host Surfsense on Truenas

I really want to try out surfsense but my main computer is already handling a good amount of stuff and I have a small server running truenas that I would like to try this out on. I'm pretty new to self hosting and based on the documentation it doesn't seem as straight forward as other projects such as Home Assistant, N8N or photoprism.

Curious if anyone has tried and got this to run on truenas. Ideally if it can be ran as a container but maybe as a vm it would work.
