Description
Eligibility
- I confirm that I am a genuine user and have purchased the software.
- Alternatively, I have paid for this feature request on Issue Hunt.
Feature Description
Describe the feature you'd like to request:
Metadata editing functionality
- editing of album names, song names, artist, and other fields on a song/album metadata
- ability to get metadata from a music database (such as MusicBrainz) if user wants
- possibly, ability to select multiple albums as well
Use Case
Explain the use case for this feature:
- To be a good library management for music as well as a player, it is necessary that they can edit quickly a entry in their library, perhaps to correct any mistakes, manually organize it how they'd like, or so on.
- Being able to get metadata for songs helps with adding music to the library.
- For example, user notices incorrect album name, it is an easier experience within the player to quickly update the tag than it is to go to a separate program (as is implemented, iTunes, winamp, musicbee, etc.) If multiple albums are incorrect, but are for example by the same artist, the user can also quickly fix these with little inconvenience.
- A user might have added new music to their library, a feature that can help find the metadata to tag the music with can be helpful in this case as well. Players such as musicbee implement this, by allowing the user to look up music through MusicBrainz (a popular online music catalogue) and then use the detailed information to tag their music for them.
Expected Benefits
- A more complete library management experience and ease of use for the user.
