Description
I love Loop and generally it works well, except for the Carb absorbtion algorithem. It makes its decisions inaacuratly for many foods causing massive BG spikes.
Example: I have an Everything Bagel each morning with Cream Cheese. Same brand, same amount of cream cheese each time.
Its 55g of Carbs
3g Fat
11g Protien
As a default "Medium" absorbing food type, that defaults to 3,5 hour absortion time. but even with this set after almost exactly 2.5 or sometimes 3 hours it shortens the absortion time to 2.5 or 3 hours and a massive spike happens. I try setting this as a Slow absorbing food type (pizza) and set the absortion rate to 4.5 - 5 hours and it still auto adjusts every single morning after 2.5-3 hours and thinks its fully aborbed causing a amassive spike.
Spike range example, from 5.5 mmol to over 14mmol in 1.5 hours resulting in me needed to serioously get on top of correction.
The algorithem is flawed when it comes to certain foods and how to perceives absorbtion and needs an override of some kind. This is something i see often on other Loop forums and curious why its never been implmented.
If i select "Override" for example, i want that food to stay at that absorbtion time i set and not adjust.
My only workaround at this point is a tiresome, splitting of the carb entries.
35g of Carbs for 1.5-2 hours then manually enter a fake 2nd entry 2 hours later after initial carb entry of 25g of carbs for the next 3-4 hours.
or i have to use a custom preset to set a 130% insulin override 1.5 hours afteer eating for 90-120min. Again this is manual and quite annnoying and does away with that whole "set it and forget it" approch loop is otherwise good at.
I have tried increasing the initial Carb abount, tried a veriety of differnt absortion times, nothing seesm to change anything for this issue.
Please add this override. Thanks.
