System Permission Issue

The user was dealing with a permission problem, which is the one that I am currently facing. I forgot to mention that I already set the boot parameter in the grub configuration at the beginning of the process, and that is the outcome still. So, I read the documentation.

Use our issue template. People just read the title and say "me too"... but "System Permission Issue" is extremely vague and could be any number of things. The first one in the other issue was about virtual input. Yours is about KMS streaming on stable version of Sunshine.

No where in the docs does it mention grub configuration...

Ok no problem, I will use the issue template. For the KMS problem the documentation refers to adding the "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" kernel parameter, and I added that to the default command line within grub configuration. If it needs to be set elsewhere I will be glad to do that.

However, I suppose that this issue will be closed, so I will keep up the discussion in the issue i will open in an hour.

Actually I tried that too before adding the kernel parameter and it didn't work. However I tried to run it again and the output is the following:

File '/usr/bin/sunshine-2025.924.154138' has no capablity to remove

Looks like there's a typo in the docs. Try setcap cap_sys_admin+p $(readlink -f $(which sunshine)). You need to add the capabilities.

What package are you using? It should apply the capabilities automatically.

I tried with sudo because the output of the command you suggested returned unable to set CAP_SETFCAP effective capability: Operation not permitted.

After that step the situation does not change unfortunately:

I want to point out that a display is connected:

The package I am using is the lastest .deb stable release "v2025.924.154138" for ubuntu 24.04 (x86-64).

Anyway, this is irrelevant in the beta release now that #4417 was merged.
