I use Ubuntu LTS 20.04 with an AZERTY keyboard and a Virtualbox Windows 10 but Office applications are all in QWERTY. Normal use of Virtualbox works with my keyboard layout.

Is there a way to use/forward the system keyboard layout in the Windows applications? It may be an issue with FreeRDP.

You have to set the keyboard layout as an additional parameter for FreeRDP. Use the xfreerdp /kbd-list command to find the right layout. For the French it is 0x0000040C.
In your ~/.config/winapps/winapps.conf configuration file add:

RDP_FLAGS="/kbd:0x0000040C"

Remember that the Microsoft RDP server only accepts the keyboard layout on session creation. You must log out of the current session and log in again for the layout to change.

Thank you, that does the trick. It may be added to the documentation.
