link to CrowPi 2 OS sources

I’m interested in buying crowpi 2 as my son’s first laptop, but one thing stopping me is that I can’t find a link to the distribution sources. I’d be potentially tinkering with the build to e.g. translate it to German (my son, as many school age kids outside anglophonic sphere, doesn’t speak English yet). could you point me where to go to find the distro’s sources, and ideally some documentation on how to build it?
