Compiling fails at 100% during linking (Ubuntu 18.04, Debian 9)

Observed thus far on: Ubuntu 18.04, Debian 9 (master branch)

If you receive an error like this during final linking:

Complete the build, by manually running the following, to link the final binary:

The issue is caused by CMake changes required for Mac OSX compatibility.

An alternate install method, on older distributions, is to clone the RetroPie branch and use the distribution local libmpeg2 libraries.
This branch uses a more generic CMake integration:

sudo apt-get install libmpeg2-4-dev
