Fix non-functioning validators

The validators for the input values on the settings page don't appear to be doing anything.

I'm not certain if they never worked or if there was a change to how they should work in an update.

I noticed this because with the changes in #17 colour can now be `#rrggbbaa` which *should* fail validation but appears to get through fine.
